Welcome to Drive Less, Live More
2008 campaign to get under way in May
First-year campaign successful
Drive Less, Live More was a huge success. More than 700 people participated in a variety of events and contests. Together, they saved more than 30,000 miles and more than 1,500 gallons of gas in just four weeks. One family even decided they could live with one less car and sold their second car.
What is Drive Less, Live More?
Drive Less Live More is your connection to healthier, cleaner, more affordable transportation choices within the greater Dayton region.
As Americans we love our cars. We think nothing of driving less than a mile to the bank, the store or even from one parking lot to another at a shopping center.
As our waistlines -- and our dependence on foreign oil -- increase, the quality of our life and air decrease. But it’s not as if we are trying to pollute our environment or be less active, it’s just become second nature to grab the keys and go.
But there’s a better way. Residents of the Greater Dayton Region have a variety of alternative travel options walking, biking on paved recreation trails, riding regional transit, or carpooling.
The Miami Conservancy District, Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, Greater Dayton RTA and Five Rivers MetroParks teamed up to bring you the Drive Less Live More campaign where you can save money (see how much money it really costs to drive your car with compute your commute), get fit, win prizes and improve the air you breathe.
The 2007 Drive Less, Live More is now complete, but keep an eye out the first quarter of 2008 for information about next year's campaign.
